The Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Helder Barbalho, since taking office, has acted on two fronts: improvements in management and cost cutting.
The spending redirection policy implemented by the Ministry of Fisheries anticipated President Dilma's fiscal adjustment decree, which directed a reduction in public spending within the Federal Government.
The goal of reducing expenditures across the entire operating budget of the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture by 40% is mainly to channel costs into investments in infrastructure and increased production in the area of fisheries and aquaculture.
The Ministry, within the scope of its service provision contracts, is already negotiating to cut 50% from the total amount.
The action is already showing results. So far, 4.5 million reais have been saved. It is estimated that this amount will reach 20 million.
In addition to the country's economic adjustment needs, the Ministry of Fisheries reaffirms its commitment, today and always, to work towards the growth and development of Brazil.
