Ministério da Pesca e AquiculturaFishing Tourism Guide is a professional who provides support to amateur fishing – pointing out, for example, the best and safest fishing spots – popularly known as fishing guides, pilots or pirangueiros, they had their profession recognized by the new Brazilian Classification of Occupations (CBO) of the Ministry of Labor and Employment (MTE), as Fishing Tourism Guides.

The achievement, which meets a long-standing demand from the category, was the result of a partnership between the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture (MPA) and the Ministry of Labor and Employment (TEM).

According to data from the National Association of Ecology and Sport Fishing (ANEPE), Brazil has more than 60 thousand fishing guides.

Recognition of the profession was essential so that fishing guides could be hired as fishing tourism guides, with all the inherent social guarantees, such as social security, vacations and 13th salary.

The Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture works to ensure that all fishing professionals have their rights guaranteed, mainly protecting employment and income.
